Training
What we do and when we do it.
Swim: Master the water
For many triathletes, the swim is the most daunting part of race day. Our goal is to turn that anxiety into confidence.
We run weekly coached pool sessions at Marl Pits Leisure Centre. Unlike a public lane swim, these sessions are structured to improve your technique, stamina, and sighting skills. We have dedicated lanes for different speeds—so whether you are drilling your catch mechanics or pushing your threshold pace, you will be training with people of a similar ability.
- When: 19:10 on Thursday nights.
- Kit: Swimwear, goggles and a drink bottle.
- Focus: Technique, drills and endurance.

Bike: Sunday Social & Winter turbo
The bike leg makes up the biggest chunk of any triathlon, so we spend plenty of time in the saddle.
Our flagship session is the Sunday Club Ride. We depart from Rawtenstall and operate a strict “No Drop” policy – meaning nobody gets left behind, ever. In the winter months, we run indoor “Turbo” sessions, where we work on high-intensity intervals without having to battle the ice and rain.
- When: Sunday mornings and Tuesday evenings.
- Kit: Road-worthy bike, helmet, and spare tube.
- Focus: Group riding skills, aerobic base, and coffee stops.
Run: Track speed and Valley Trails
Triathlon running is all about running strong on tired legs. We mix up our training to keep it effective and interesting.
We meet at The Adrenaline Centre for track intervals—these are short, sharp efforts designed to make you faster. Because it’s a track, everyone stays together regardless of speed. In the summer, we often head out onto the trails to make the most of the Rossendale Valley hills (which builds serious leg strength).
When: Monday’s at 19:00 and a track session at 18:00 on Thursdays.
Kit: Trainers, high vis for winter road running.
Focus: Speed, pacing and endurance.
